iphone apps book April 28, 2010 Barbara E. Thropp (Hampton VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a new itouch owner and I found this book helpful because it gave me a place to start to find apps that would be useful to me. The layout is good. The book is divided into different sections such as exercise apps, time management and games ect. It list 5 or 6 apps under each section in detail plus gives a smaller description of several more. There are full color pictures as well as a helpful hint at the bottom of each app. I have downloaded for free or bought a number of the apps listed in the book and have not been disappointed with any of them. If your new to using apps It's a great book if you have been downloading apps for a long time it's probably too basic a book for you. Plus being in a book form it allowed me to continue to find info on possible apps even when I was somewhere I could not use my itouch to access the itune store.
I Pod Apps March 21, 2010 R. D. Marks Some ideas, but the apps change so quickly that it's not something that lends itself to a book.
iBook for iPhone January 9, 2010 Lynette R. Fleming (Decatur, IL USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This book is worth every penny you will spend to purchase it. It will save hours of your time searching for applications, and possibly hundreds of dollars purchasing the best downloads. Organized in twenty categories, you'll be able to find the best of everything, from education to photography, and from healthcare to travel. Joe Funk, a technology geek (just like me, only more so), gives us price, a summary, and why the editorial panel likes the featured application. Want to learn how to tie a bow tie or poach an egg? How to Videos, a free download, offers video instructions on how to do nearly everything. Sitting at work wondering what you're going to make for dinner? Whole Foods Market Recipes, another free download, to the rescue. Enter ingredients you have on hand, and this download will offer up suggested recipes. Use your iPhone as your shopping list. This one's my favorite application of all, as I often have a full refrigerator with no idea of what I want to make for dinner. Interested in the news? You can download The Wall Street Journal for free. By now I'm sure you have the picture ... more than 300 apps are reviewed, some free and some for purchase. Sitting in an airport waiting for a plane ... pull out this book and download a new application. Bored and sleepy waiting for your doctor's appointment? Riding in a car staring out the window? iPhone Apps Book to the rescue ... entertainment is just a fingertip away!
Great resource for unbiased reviews of Apps November 6, 2009 Calchi (Los Angeles, CA) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a great reference tool with no b.s. This compact book contains concise summaries of key apps, separates them by category (business, games, social, etc) and let's you know if the app is free or has a fee. I've looked at numerous App-review sites, but usually find them to be biased - and since the App store is very crowded, this book cuts right to the good stuff. The time saved by not searching through the worthless Apps is definitely worth buying this book.
