Nice cover July 23, 2010 Kipp Randolph (DONNELLSON, IOWA, US) This item is a very good purchase it's a little heavier then most other covers. It also covers the screen of your ipod G5 nanno. Which is nice becuase my ipod spends a lot of time in my pocket with change and keys and so on.
Awesome Casing July 14, 2010 Pei Hua This crystal casing enables my Ipod Red to show its true colours while not sacrificing on protection. I have dropped my ipod @ least on 3 occasions after putting the casing and BOTH my Ipod and the Casing is still in tip top condition.
Not bad! A few improvements would be ideal... July 11, 2010 0xAA55 This case pretty much hits the nail on the head for what I was looking for as far as an iPod case is concerned. The product included a velvety pouch, a small patch of cloth, a hard clear plastic enclosure, and a thin, seemingly non adhesive, window cling style screen protector. This case is a good money/value tradeoff, but has a few notable cons that may be especially frustrating to video consumers.
Pros:
- The case fits the iPod Nano 5g securely, no significant rattling when shaken.
- The case does not appear to have any points where it concentrates pressure against the iPod, wearing at its finish.
- Made of a seemingly durable material, just enough flex to take an impact, but sturdy enough to inspire confidence.
- Openings for all controls and ports.
- Screen protector provided (I assume to ensure harder plastic case does not damage screen).
- Screen protector is non adhesive, but stays in place, and has removable shielding on both sides.
- The case is fairly easy to get off, and rugged enough to withstand an indefinite number of careful separations. The plastic tabs are delicate but not especially easy to break if the user is careful.
- A surprisingly nice velvety pouch was included with the screen protectors.
- Minisuit includes a card that outlines their commitment to service. It's actually kind of a nice and convincing presentation given the price and caliber of the product. I wish every seller made an effort to make their customers feel like they mattered.
Cons:
- The slightest bit of moisture and/or manufacturing error and the outer plastic case can touch the screen protector and make for odd looking visual distortions where the contact occurs. Manufacturer could incorporate slightly more clearance to potentially address this problem. (I ordered two cases, and this issue occurred with only one of them). Fortunately, pinching the sides of the case momentarily relieves the problem, and I don't use the iPod for video.
- Both cases I purchased have a bit of a visual artifact in the plastic, centered at the tip of the screen's curvature. It's like there's a crevice interior to the plastic and the light from the screen illuminates it and makes a hair sized multicolor streak at that location. This "crevice" seems to run the entire vertical length of the screen, but the visual artifact only is visible at the top.
- Included cloth leaves as much dust on the screen from the cloth itself as it seems to take off. I would recommend wiping down your iPod screen with a more effective cloth so as not to trap dust under the screen protector.
- There are a couple of hair line "scratches" on both cases that I ordered. I am concerned that they may develop into cracks in the future. I cannot assess how deep these imperfections go, but I've noticed one or two coming from the cutout for the camera, and also from the cut out for the controls. It's how they are coming out from the edge of the cutout that concerns me that they may be baby cracks more than a scratch.
More or less unavoidable cons:
(These are issues that the company can't really do much to address)
- Screen protector requires finger ninjary to apply ideally
- Dust will enter the case inevitably (as well as be trapped from the start) and the case will need to be cleaned out from time to time
- Moisture seems able to accumulate inside the case, thus it may need to be dried if carried in one's pocket against the skin on a hot, humid day. I would assume the outer case would build much more moisture than the interior of the iPod, so really, this is sort of a feature from that perspective.
- The protective plastic sheets around the case may leave a sticky crust over portions of the case's exterior. I found that rubbing alcohol and a tiny bit of elbow grease removed this in short order.
All in all this is an excellent case, but keep in mind that in my opinion you're getting a rather well designed, moderate quality plastic enclosure. I would advise getting a spare just in case, especially as the price is reasonable. There are a few things listed above that might annoy video watchers, but for people who are just picking out a song and listening to tunes, this certainly should meet their needs. Also, the iPod looks fabulous and loses almost no visual appeal inside of this case. The black velvety bag is rather classy as well, though the sizable company emblem on it is a bit abrasive on the eyes, and I would prefer it to be smaller and in the lower right hand corner of the bag.
Great Customer Service & nice product July 9, 2010 Mom of Many (NY, NY) I bought this Ipod Nano 5th generation crystal case with screen protector for my son. He loves it. It fits well and does the job. Several reviews mentioned difficulty opening the case once on and problems with the screen protector application. We found neither of these issues to be a problem. My case came without a screen protector and the case was scratched. I called MiniSuit and they immediately sent out a new case with the screen protector. Nice product & great customer service!!!
Good choice for a small budget June 28, 2010 MacDaddyX12 Cover fit perfectly over the iPod and it stays on with no annoying "jiggle room". The only thing is that not all iPod accesories (like the ones to play your music in your car) fit right, so you might have to get familiar with taking the cover off without snapping it off and breaking it (it seems a little flimsy like that). I did it by running a dull edge of something, like a ballpoint pen or a small butter knife, along the top near the hold button to loosen one side...then repeat in the other direction for the other side. But hey, it was cheap and it fits well so I say it was worth the $$.
